Water Company Worker Killed, 3 Others Injured In White Horse Pike Crash: Prosecutor

A worker from New Jersey American Water was killed and three others were injured when the crew was hit by a vehicle on the White Horse Pike in Camden County, authorities said.

The crash occurred around 9:55 a.m. on Wednesday, May 29 on the 500 block of N. White Horse Pike in Magnolia, according to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office.

The northbound right lane of the White Horse Pike was shut down for repair work and was an active work zone. 

A vehicle hit a parking curb, a bush, and struck four workers from New Jersey American Water who were working in the work zone, the prosecutor said.

The vehicle continued driving and struck two other vehicles. One vehicle was traveling north in the left lane of the White Horse Pike, and the second vehicle was traveling southbound in the left lane of the White Horse Pike.

One male New Jersey American Water worker was pronounced dead at the scene, a second male New Jersey American Water worker was transported to Cooper University Hospital in critical condition, and two other male workers were transported to Jefferson Hospital in Stratford with minor injuries. The female driver of the impacting vehicle and two other drivers were transported to Jefferson Hospital with minor injuries.

This investigation is active and ongoing at this time.
